India Salt & Light Mission

Warm greetings from India to Senior Pastor, Elders, Deacons and to all the members of Hyerym church in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I hope and pray everybody and everything there is fine, we constantly have Hyerym church in our prayers
We always thank you all for the love and prayers that you share with our India 'Salt & Light Missions'.
In the month of November 2016 we were eagerly praying and preparing to receive the mission team from Hyerym church to India. But, suddenly we heard that the mission trip to India had been cancelled. We were little disappointed in the beginning but after receiving an Email from our senior pastor our hope were restored and we continued to pray for you all to visit us in God's set time.

We came to know there was a miscommunication regarding the situation in India. Actually there is no problem for Koreans to visit India as tourists. In India there is always restriction for religious activities from foreigners especially towards Christians. Also in India, churches are not like Korean churches with one senior pastor and elders managing church affairs. This may not be easy to understand for the Koreans unless they come here and see it practically.

We have started 'Salt & Light Missions' ministry in a South India state called as Andhra Pradesh. Our ministry is amongst the 'Dalit' (lowest caste) people. Our ministry focuses on one village called as 'Agraharam' in 'Kotha Ventakapuram'. There are only 2 Christian families in that village and recently a CSI (churches of south India) ecumenical church was built in this village, but no ministry activities were taking place there.
We began our 'Salt & Light' ministry...

1.   First by starting free 'After School' activities for village children, about 55 students come daily to study in our centre. There are 2 teachers and 2 assistants who teach and take care of these children.
2.   After few months we started 'Sunday School' activities on every Saturday evenings, about 40 children attend that and learn Christian gospel songs, action songs, memorize bible verses, dance, skit and other activities.
3.   After few more months we started women's fellowship and named it as 'Esther Group', about 25 women attend this meeting on every Fridays to learn gospel songs, read the bible, listen to God's message etc., my wife takes care of this group.
4.   After few more months we started youth fellowship and named it as 'Daniel Group', about 15 youths meet on every Friday to talk and discuss about God, faith, spiritual life, bible, salvation etc., I take care of this group.
Apart from this I teach in a bible college and seminary as a part time faculty. As I get invitations to preach in various churches on Sundays I go there and lead the entire Sunday service. We haven't started Sunday service at our mission village yet because we don't have enough space to accommodate people to sit and worship. Recently we have started to build a small hall beside our after school centre, once it is completed we are praying to begin Sunday services for adults and Sunday school activities for children.

 

We were very happy to receive friends from Hyerym church. Deacon Lee Ki Hong's family had visited our home and mission field and spent good time with us. It was a wonderful time of blessing and encouragement for us; they had been with us in our mission work and witnessed what we are doing here. We really wish and pray that many from Hyerym church would come to India and spend some time and work with us in our mission field and see the work of God in this country.

Please remember the above said 4 types of ministry we are doing here. Your prayers, encouragements, offerings and concern is a great source of strength for us. We never forget to remember you all in our prayers especially for the new church building work, please continue to remember us in your prayers and visit us.
